About Mat Sings & Guitar

Mat has been writing, recording, and performing since October 4th, 1990, when he was just 13 years old. Over the years, he has recorded hundreds of songs and continues to be a prolific musician. In 1997, Mat embarked on an ambitious project to record and release "an album a month," distributing these on cassette to friends and family. He revived this project in January 2011, releasing a CD every month straight out of Effort Studios, a tradition he plans to continue until January 2030. Additionally, Mat has released two official CDs: Soundtrack to Our Lives (2001) and Counting on a Second (2002). Mat's music is influenced by a wide range of artists, including Marc Bolan (T. Rex), Prince, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Finn. One of his proudest moments was singing "Kiss" onstage with Prince at a small launch party for Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic in London in 1999. While his music can be described as guitar-based pop, it clearly reflects his diverse influences. Mat's main aim is to produce as many records as possible, preferably one a month, and share his music with a broad audience. This year, October 4th marks Mat's 33rd anniversary in the music industry.
